The university has five faculties with its own set of undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate programmes. The faculties of the New University of Lisbon are:
Faculty of Science and Technology
This faculty is made up of the departments of Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Physics, Applied Social Sciences, Computer Science, and Mathematics. The other departments in the Faculty of Science and Technology are Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Geotechnology, Earth Science, and Electronic Engineering.
Faculty of Social and Human Sciences
This faculty houses the departments of History and Theory of Ideas, Science, Communication, Portuguese, Geography and Regional Planning, Sociology, Anglo-Portuguese and Roman Languages, and Literature. The departments of History, German Studies, Philosophy, Musical Sciences, Linguistics, Anthropology, and Art History also fall under this faculty.
Faculty of Economics
The Faculty of Economics is composed of the Business Management and Economics departments.
Faculty of Medical Sciences
The Faculty of Medical Sciences has over 35 departments that focus on a specific field in health and medical sciences.
Faculty of Law
This was created in 1996, and it is the newest faculty in the university.
